Peter Donker - Bring2Mind
Peter Donker graduated as architect in Delft
(Netherlands) and continued to do a PhD in technical
sciences. His doctoral thesis examined and modeled discourse
of decision making in design teams. He then worked for the
Dutch “top-tech” IT research institute, the Telematica
Institute, among other in the field of Knowledge Management.
2002 saw a change of heart as he left career and country
behind to move in with his wife in Switzerland where he
began developing intranet solutions (first in his trusted
ASP/VBScript, later in .NET) from the comfort of their own
home. In 2003 he discovered DotNetNuke and has not looked
back since. He is married to Caroline, a primary school
teacher in Neuchâtel, and has a daughter of almost 4 years
called Méline. Each winter, Peter takes a break from his
desk for several weeks and becomes a ski instructor in the
resort of Champéry, Switzerland. He also enjoys hang gliding
in summer, weather and time permitting.
Bring2mind was founded in 2004 by Peter Donker as he started
developing modules for the growing DNN community. At first
free, these modules were developed to suit the needs of the
various inter/intranet jobs Peter was doing. As he
discovered the true potential of DNN and the market it was
opening, he began to test the commercial waters with a
module that would do ‘document management’. At the time
there was no module that would do granular security on
documents or versioning. In August 2004 v1 of Document
Exchange (or DMX) was launched and Bring2mind soon became a
well established name in the DNN commercial eco system. 2005
saw the launch of v3 of DMX and a host of custom projects
related to the module. Customers include companies from just
about every domain (financial, legal, manufacturing, public
sector) or size (from Sharp to the city of Snowqualmie, WA
USA).
Bring2mind custom projects include high security and
multi-lingual variations of DMX.
